International Transmission Company Relocates to Novi

Move to Orchard Hill Place gives electrical transmission company greater access to southeast Michigan communities and businesses, accommodates employee growth.

Novi, Mich., Oct. 8, 2003 - International Transmission Company has relocated its headquarters to Orchard Hill Place in Novi. The move gives the electrical transmission company greater proximity to its 12-county service area and helps to accommodate employee growth.

The 25,000-square-foot office complex, at Eight Mile and Haggerty roads, is convenient to major expressways that lead to the company·s service area, which extends throughout southeast Michigan and the Thumb. Currently, International Transmission has 83 employees, an increase from the 50 people the company employed when it began operating as an independently owned, for-profit business in March 2003. The company expects to have a staff of 100 employees by the end of the year.

International Transmission·s executive team, as well as its financial, engineering and communications staffs, relocated to Novi. Approximately 25 operational staff members remain at the Michigan Electric Power Coordination Center, the company·s technical operations facility in Ann Arbor.

International Transmission·s service territory covers 7,500 square miles in southeastern Michigan. This includes all or parts of 12 counties and metropolitan Detroit, an area with more than 4.5 million people. Its system comprises more than 2,500 pole-miles of overhead and underground high-voltage transmission lines, transmission structures (poles, towers), 28 transmission stations, rights-of-way and easements, and the power coordination center in Ann Arbor.
